Hello, dear friends!
We are happy to present to you our volunteer initiative – our handmade Christmas crafts on the occasion of the Charity Christmas Bazaar, which we organized together with the “Pencho Slaveykov” Community Center, town of Dupnitsa.
It all started a long time ago. One day, while Matty, Vicky and Vanya were painting the picture for the competition “Be the change of XXI century!” of “Arete”, Matti decided to ask what we were going to organize for Christmas, if we were going to give food for children in need and gave the idea for a Christmas bazaar. We weren’t all there but the desiosions we take together as a team. Matty and the girls told us about their idea, and we were all in!
We had two ideas. One was to help little Victor and the other one was born during the Arete Fundrasing Concert – funds for scholarships.
After talking with the foundation’s team, we decided to focus on little Victor. He is young, but really experienced by the strength he has. He is facing one of the biggest challenges there are. Little Victor is battling leukemia. Why does life have to be so unfair?
We had just found out that the painting we had been preparing so hard had been bought by a representative of a large pharmaceutical company. We had our first success as a group. It was time for another. We began our next initiative.
And so early December began our workshop for the bazaar. We managed to get together twice a week despite school and work. Well, we weren’t always all there, and because of that there was tension in the group, but of course we are a family and our team can’t break easily.
Together we achieve everything! Our biggest helper was aunt Sasha from the community center, as we call her. She gave us all the materials for our products. Two, four, six…. eight gatherings and we succeeded.
The day came for the bazaar to start. Coincidentally, it happened to be the day that Hristo from the team and Jasi from the Arete Youth Council brought donations for people in need. You will find out about this initiative soon!
On December 20th we wanted to be in a public place, but for some reason we didn’t get any response from the municipality to our request to have a place for our idea. Well, the municipality is not helping us and to allocate a new place for our community center.
Nothing can stop us!
We took the products, got a table and stood in front of a diner in the “Upper neighborhood”.
In spite of the cold, despite the fact we had to be at work, we were there and had an amazing success!
People stopped, looked and bought! People from our neighborhoods, acquaintances, friends.
We did not put prices. Everyone gave as much as they wanted, as much as they had! We saw the goodness of the people. We saw that there were good human beings! The products that were not bought, we exhibited the next day at the “Acad.Sergey P.Korolyov” Vocational school. We even got calls from Sofia to join our initiative.
We sold everything!
